When I got laid off back in October of 2009, I sensed that the thing to do was to go back to (night) school to redirect my career. My career had been in graphic design for print. Now, after educating myself in website development, I am gradually becoming successful as a website developer along with a business partner. Initially, the layoff was a shock to the (income) system; now, I recognize it as an opportunity to assess how my skills can be adjusted to the new paradigm — i.e., the wave of the present: website development. Adult education? Yes.
